Buy red wine
Red wine is made from dark grapes by macerating the (colourless) juice together with the grape skin and allowing it to ferment. This releases not only colouring agents, which are almost exclusively found in the skin, but also tannins and phenols, which contribute to the complexity of the wine.
Overall, the winemaking process for red wines is even more complex than for white wines: the length of the maceration, the temperature during fermentation, how the marc is treated, carbonic acid mixing, BSA and storage in a wide variety of containers are just a few of the factors that have an enormous influence on the wine and make it so exciting!
