The cooperative, founded in 1900, is located in the far south of South Tyrol. The climate here is alpine-continental and with 300 days of sunshine it is almost meditteranean warm, which is balanced out by the cool downdraughts at night. 70% of the vineyards are located in the municipality of the same name, Kurtatsch, and 80% of the vineyards are on slopes that lie at an altitude of 900 metres.
