Tesch Winery - Nahe

90% of the 25 hectares are planted with Riesling, the rest with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Most of the vines are over 50 years old, which ensures low yields but all the more extract-rich, expressive wines. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. All wines are vinified dry and have pleasing alcohol levels of only 11.5-12.5%.

The vineyards are cultivated organically, without the use of herbicides, insecticides or artificial fertilisers, which keeps them in balance and makes the wines more complex, full-bodied and long-lasting. Laubenheimer ST. REMIGIUSBERG

It is probably no coincidence that the colour orange was chosen for this single vineyard (one of the smallest on the Nahe), as the lush fruit notes become reminiscent of mandarins as the wine ripens. On weathered volcanic rock and clay soil interspersed with iron ore, a Riesling is produced here that is dense and elegant, supple and multi-layered. Only small quantities are available - a wine that is best savoured pure.

The name is reminiscent of the Benedictine monks in Laubenheim and their beatified prince abbot of Reims.
