Buy wines from Apulia
Land of the legendary Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick Barbarossa and today a booming wine region.
Puglia is divided into three very different areas: in the north, in the hills around Castel del Monte (see photo on the right), the autochthonous grape variety Nero di Troia best.
Central Puglia is the home of the Primitivo. Between the partly rocky and barren high plateau and the hot coastal plain near Manduria, the cindelic relative ripens to perfection.
In the far south - the heel of the Italian boot - lies the flat Salento region. The soils here are sandy to loamy and very rich in minerals. Perfect conditions for Negroamaro and Malvasia nera. By the way, these are also the grape varieties for our wonderful Vincotto (a balsamic vinegar made from boiled grape must), which also comes from this region.
