Superior Cuvée "TAL 1908" 2020 Winery Bolzano
Description
Superior Cuvée "TAL 1908" Alto Adige DOC
Red wine
Origin: Italy, South Tyrol, Gries and Moritzing: Lots of sun in the Bolzano valley basin, cooled by the wind from the Sarntal valley.
Winemaker: Cantina Bolzano - Under the direction of chief oenologist Stephan Filippi: "The optimum. Our optimum"
Grape varieties: 80% Lagrein, 17% Cabernet, 3% Merlot
Soil: Alluvial soils on volcanic porphyry subsoil produce wines with a particularly strong character due to their water permeability and mineral deposits.
Ageing: 12 months in French barriques, followed by 15 months in concrete barrels + bottle ageing
A tribute to the founding year 1908 of the Gries winery: the best grapes from old vines, with a significant reduction in yield (35 hl/ha), produced under optimal conditions in the vineyard and cellar, result in a unique composition of fullness, elegance, complexity and multi-layered flavours
We immediately take in the aroma of ripe red and black fruits: clear flavours of raspberries, redcurrants and blackberries, paired with pepper and cloves, with cocoa, graphite and liquorice on the palate. All in all, very harmonious with soft finesse and freshness, balanced by a present minerality and medium acidity. Very promising with great ageing potential.
