Riesling Auslese "Ritsch" 2022 Carl Loewen
Description
Riesling Ritsch Auslese Erste Lage sweet
Origin: Germany, Mosel, Thörnich, vineyard "Ritsch", second steepest site on the Mosel
Winemaker: Carl Loewen
Grape varieties: 100% Riesling, hand-picked, naturally cultivated
Soil: Grey slate, quartzite with high silicate inclusions
Vinification: Fermented spontaneously in fuder barrels
Unique terroir in the GG Ritsch vineyard: The trees in the vineyard provide early shade for the vines, allowing the grapes to develop a high level of ripeness with stable acidity. Around 20% of the grapes are botrytised, resulting in highly concentrated aromas of lemon peel, candied orange peel and ripe mango. The minerality and extreme saltiness of the soil are retained on the palate. The Auslese is round, fresh and light, without extreme or even intrusive sweetness.
Can mature very well and for a long time!
