Origin: Italy, South Tyrol, Salurn, steep slope Buchholz, 440 - 500 metres above sea level
Winegrower: Castelfeder
Grape varieties: 100% Pinot Noir, dry, hand-picked
Soil: Calcareous dolomite, porphyry, red loam
Maturation: 10 - 14 days maceration in stainless steel, maturation for 12 months in barriques and at least 3 months in the bottle
The high level of sunshine on the north-western slope gives this delicate Pinot Noir an elegant body, structure, pleasant acidity and cool fruit flavour
Delicious with strongly flavoured fish dishes
Funfact label: Perkeo, a man of small stature from Salurn, was the mouthpiece of Elector Philipp von der Pfalz and, according to legend, was able to drink the large 200,000 litre wooden barrel from Heidelberg in one go. One day, however, the short man became very ill and was advised by his doctor to drink some water. According to legend, Perkeo unfortunately dropped dead after the first sip of water.
