Trentino is the southern part of the autonomous province of South Tyrol-Trentino. It is already much milder here and the moderating effect of Lake Garda is more noticeable. While the valley is dominated by the gravelly alluvial soil of the Adige river, the higher, cooler areas are characterised by moraine debris with a high limestone content. The most important local grape varieties are the white Nosiola Grape and the deep dark Teroldego.
