Buy Prosecco
For many, this is the uncomplicated, sparkling wine par excellence. But not only! Prosecco can be a white still wine (Bianco), a sparkling wine (Frizzante) or a sparkling wine (Spumante), which is usually produced using the tank fermentation method (Method Charmat). Bottle fermentation is less common.
Prosecco always comes from the north-east Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli and is produced from at least 85% of the white wine grape now known as Glera.
What exactly do the terms extra dry or brut mean?
These indicate the degree of sweetness in sparkling wines, which is determined by the addition of the so-called shipping dosage. From naturally dry to sweet, these are as follows (in ascending order from less than 3 g residual sugar per litre up to 50 g)
brut nature < extra brut < brut < extra dry < dry < demi-sec < doux
