Ippolito 1845 - Cirò
Calabria, in the very south of Italy - at the bottom of the boot, so to speak - miraculously produces fresh white wines, elegant rosés and slender, polished red wines despite the hot climate. But perhaps it is also down to the work of the Ippolitos - two brothers and their cousin - who are now the fifth generation to cultivate the 100 hectares, 65% of which they do themselves and 35% in close co-operation with small local winegrowers who are proud to work together. A conscious decision was made to cultivate indigenous grape varieties, especially Gaglioppo for the red wines and Greco bianco and Pecorello for the whites.
